I LOVED this! So much better than The Catch, which I thought was mediocre。 This has everything you want in a thriller, suspense, shock, twists & turns, murder! Loved the main characters thought they were all so realistic and added something different to the narrative。 Would highly recommend。

You can always be guaranteed that whenever you pick up a book by T。M。 Logan, you won’t want to put it down。 The Mother is his latest gripping thriller。The story follows Heather as she is released from prison, after spending ten years inside after she was accused of murdering her husband, Liam, who was a Member of Parliament。 Now Heather is fighting to prove her innocence, and she will stop at nothing to get the life she had with her children back, and unmask Liam’s true killer。This book is a hig You can always be guaranteed that whenever you pick up a book by T。M。 Logan, you won’t want to put it down。 The Mother is his latest gripping thriller。The story follows Heather as she is released from prison, after spending ten years inside after she was accused of murdering her husband, Liam, who was a Member of Parliament。 Now Heather is fighting to prove her innocence, and she will stop at nothing to get the life she had with her children back, and unmask Liam’s true killer。This book is a high octane intense ride and the tension increases as Heather fights to clear her name。 You can clearly see that there is more here than what meets the eye and that someone is keeping secrets, making Heather look like the guilty party。 I wanted to know why Liam was killed, and if there was anything that he was involved in, prior to his death, that might’ve been the reason behind his killing, and why someone would’ve wanted to cover it up and pin the blame on Heather。 This really adds to the mystery and T。M。 Logan keeps us guessing as to what the truth is。 You can feel the heartache that Heather is feeling as she tries desperately to reconnect with her son’s when she comes out of prison, even though this is proving near but impossible。 It is a real struggle for her to get people to listen to her and to prove that she had nothing to do with her husband’s death。 I got the sense that she would do anything to prove this。 It’s what really raises the stakes throughout the novel and someone is keen to stop Heather from pursuing the case any further and to just accept what has happened。 I liked how T。M。 Logan flicked between the past and the present。 As we visit the past, we see what Heather has missed out on in the ten horrendous years she’s suffered in prison。 T。M。 Logan paints a clear picture of the life she once had with her boys and husband, and I was gripped to these scenes as I tried to work out what was really going on and who could really be behind the murder。The finale is so tense as Heather gets closer to knowing what happened ten years previously。 I was rooting for Heather all the way to get the answers she wanted。 The Mother is an utterly compelling read and it is another winner from T。M。 Logan。 。。。more

I've enjoyed every book by this author but I think this is probably his best yet。 I read it in one day as I couldn't stop page turning。 Fast paced and kept me guessing。Heather Vernon is accused of killing her husband but she has always claimed she is innocent。 After 10 years, she is out of prison on probation。 She has to stay away from the family, her two boys and anyone connected with the case otherwise she will end up straight back inside to serve the rest of her sentence。 Heather wants to pro I've enjoyed every book by this author but I think this is probably his best yet。 I read it in one day as I couldn't stop page turning。 Fast paced and kept me guessing。Heather Vernon is accused of killing her husband but she has always claimed she is innocent。 After 10 years, she is out of prison on probation。 She has to stay away from the family, her two boys and anyone connected with the case otherwise she will end up straight back inside to serve the rest of her sentence。 Heather wants to prove her innocence and she won't give up, no matter what, even if she risks losing her life。 She just wants her boys back。Chapters written past and present from the point of view of Heather。  This format worked perfectly for keeping the tension going。  I was totally immersed in the storyline and wasn't sure who Heather could trust! When I pick up a T。 M。 Logan book, I know I’m in for a treat his books are fast-paced, gripping, and tense, and after reading The Mother I’m thrilled to report this is his best thriller yet, and yes I have read them all! So kudos to the author for including all my ‘must haves’。I appreciate how the author puts what appear to be ‘normal families’ into ‘extraordinary’ situations that make you think, ‘what would I do if I found myself in the same situation?’ Heather Vernon is accused of killing her husband, but she has always claimed she is innocent。 After spending 10 years in prison, she is out on probation。 She has to stay away from her family, her two sons and anyone connected with the case。 Heather is determined to prove her innocence and bring the actual killer to justice, and to get her children back。The plot switches confidently between Heather’s past and present。 Shifting between the two timelines keeps the tension flowing and those all important pages turning。 The narrative deftly builds on the paranoia and distrust。 It makes for a much more enjoyable read when an author doesn’t make it too obvious to the who? And why? The Mother is a tightly woven, binge-worthy thriller that twists and turns like the proverbial roller coaster。 I’m positive this book is going to be a HUGE hit with old and new fans of T。 M。 Logan。 Highly recommended。 。。。more

Heather is newly released from prison。My goodness I enjoyed this perfectly crafted thriller, not least because T。M。 Logan has an eye for detail that adds just enough description to bring alive his scenes without slowing pace and theme at all。 The episodic nature of the plot means that The Mother would translate brilliantly into another superb television series。 Indeed, I think this narrative is T。M。 Logan at his best。 One of the aspects of The Mother that I found most affecting was the way T。M。 Heather is newly released from prison。My goodness I enjoyed this perfectly crafted thriller, not least because T。M。 Logan has an eye for detail that adds just enough description to bring alive his scenes without slowing pace and theme at all。 The episodic nature of the plot means that The Mother would translate brilliantly into another superb television series。 Indeed, I think this narrative is T。M。 Logan at his best。 One of the aspects of The Mother that I found most affecting was the way T。M。 Logan illustrated how society judges by appearance, or continues to condemn those who find themselves facing adversity without knowing the full details。 This prejudicial aspect lends a thought-provoking element that made me feel quite sad, even as I was enjoying the fast pace and the excitement of the plot。And what a plot it is。 It’s one of those stories that’s very difficult to review without spoilers but the narrative made my blood boil。 I loathe unfairness and corruption and with so much of The Mother revolving around these two concepts, reading the story infuriated me, engaging me completely and making me totally invested in the outcomes。 There’s a rapid pace that alternates between 2013 and 2023 that ensures the reader is drip fed information and is frequently wrong footed and caught up in the story, elevating their heart rate in the process。 I had no idea what would happen and all the theories I developed were proven wrong through the excellent story-telling。 In addition, I think one of the aspects that made The Mother so exciting for me, and such a gripping read, was the fact that Heather’s relentless pursuit of the truth goes so far beyond anything I’d dare attempt, that I was fascinated by her and her actions。 I completely forgot that she’s a fictional character and was desperate for her to get justice。 There’s quite a limited cast too with much of the action revolving around Heather, Jodie, Owen and Amy and this increases the tension and provides a sense of claustrophobia。 I thought The Mother was excellent, finding it gripping, absorbing and exciting。 I thoroughly appreciated the depth given to the narrative through the themes of justice and family and the way Heather is fiercely determined to uncover the truth of Liam’s murder – whatever the consequences。 I recommend The Mother completely。 It’s a super read。 。。。more

A really good and exciting read that had me on the edge of my seat throughout。 Brilliant。 。。。more

Yes, everyone knew when she was at Owens, but Musgrove’s was the one place no one knew that she would be there at that moment。I have read other books recently where someone has been wrongfully imprisoned and gotten out trying to prove their innocence, and they have been a much better read than this one。 I was glad that the timescale that had lapsed was only ten years, as anything longer always makes these types of stories harder to swallow。 What does wind me up about these kinds of premises, though, is why wasn’t all of this investigated by the lawyers and the accused before the trial? Surely the trial wasn’t the day after she was charged, but there was a period of time when the lawyers would gather their defence。 Why wasn’t all of this looked into, then? Even if Heather were on remand, she would have had a team of people helping her。So, yes, after writing this, I have decided that I didn’t really enjoy this。 I have read other books by this author that were far superior, so if this is the first you pick up of his, don’t let it deter you from some of his other work。 。。。more

This story starts with a funeral。That of Heather Vernon。 Widow, mother, murderer?Such an interesting way to begin a novel。 You could say genius because I was instantly hooked。 I read this book in one afternoon because I honestly couldn't put it down。Having read Logan's other books, I was fully aware of his writing style and it's still just as gripping as his debut。We are taken on a journey with Heather through past and present all with the purpose of proving her innocent of killing her husband。I This story starts with a funeral。That of Heather Vernon。 Widow, mother, murderer?Such an interesting way to begin a novel。 You could say genius because I was instantly hooked。 I read this book in one afternoon because I honestly couldn't put it down。Having read Logan's other books, I was fully aware of his writing style and it's still just as gripping as his debut。We are taken on a journey with Heather through past and present all with the purpose of proving her innocent of killing her husband。I found it intriguing that we knew from the beginning that this woman wasn't guilty of the crime she was accused of。 My detective head was put on instantly and I felt as though I was solving the crime alongside her。As certain things are uncovered and discoveries made, if anything, it all becomes less clear。The who, what and why of it all。This is a sign of a good book, keeps you reading with increased interest as the guilty parties accumulate。I loved the use of the police interviews。 Showed a different view of the case presented to us。 More details to work with。 I found myself looking back at previous conversations to see if I was missing something, a vital clue。My suspicions rose with every turn of the page。Heather's ultimate goal isn't to prove that she had nothing to do with this horrific killing, really all she wants is to be reunited with her sons and those emotions that built with every obstacle in her way were highly realistic。 I could never fully imagine how a parent would feel being put in that situation but I know how I'd react if separated from my own children。I really admired this woman's determination and strength。Adrenalin inducing and addictive。The Mother highlights just what any parent is willing to do for their children and of course we all know that that means anything!Make sure you have time to dedicate to this book because once you start reading it, you won't want to stop。 。。。more

This is an author who I will automatically want to read when a new book comes out。 I have only just glanced at the synopsis for the first time as I write this review。 Heather, a mum and wife has spent the last 10 years in prison accused of murdering her husband。 The media had a field day with her during the trial and this is something that is becoming more common as people judge a victim by social media。 It makes it very difficult for Heather to be heard, for her to be believed and even the poli This is an author who I will automatically want to read when a new book comes out。 I have only just glanced at the synopsis for the first time as I write this review。 Heather, a mum and wife has spent the last 10 years in prison accused of murdering her husband。 The media had a field day with her during the trial and this is something that is becoming more common as people judge a victim by social media。 It makes it very difficult for Heather to be heard, for her to be believed and even the police found that the evidence neatly fitted their suspicion of her being the culprit。 Neatly fitted, but not all entirely though。 Heather has always proclaimed her innocence and now she is out she wants to prove it。 The author tells of Heather and Liam's busy life and the run-up to his death, the questioning by the police and then of her release。 trying to find anyone who could help her find information about her case is nigh on impossible。 But there is a disgraced journalist who may be able to help。With a limit to her resources and being on probation she has to tread a fine line so she doesn't find herself back in prison。 She has to do this though or she will never see her sons again。This is a tense and very fast-paced story, there are several threads that run throughout and each one is tantalising and just kept me turning the pages。 Even though Heather is consistent in her being innocent it seems that she has a mountain to battle her way up。 As she starts asking questions though blocks and barricades are placed in her way。 These are not something to be taken lightly and the ever-present threat of danger is something that is consistently there throughout the story。 There are various theories that are banded about in the story and each one is plausible。 Red herrings, well there are a few of those and again they help to keep up the intrigue and suspense。 This is a fabulous story and one that has many twists and runs off on unexpected turns, but at no time is it confusing。 It is a story that once you begin you will not want to put down, well I didn't。 I needed to know how it would end, who was responsible and what the final cost would be。 Ideal for fans of crime thrillers that have family and truth at its centre。 I adored this book a lot and it is one I would definitely recommend。 。。。more

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for an advanced copy of The Mother in exchange for a review。3。5 stars rounded up to 4 - will explain! 🤣 Ten years ago, Heather woke up one morning to find that her husband, Liam, had been murdered downstairs in their home。 A prominent MP, Liam had been hiding secrets that led to the couple arguing the previous night。 Accused of the murder, Heather is sent to prison and her two young sons are sent to live with Liam’s family。 Now, released early and under Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for an advanced copy of The Mother in exchange for a review。3。5 stars rounded up to 4 - will explain! 🤣 Ten years ago, Heather woke up one morning to find that her husband, Liam, had been murdered downstairs in their home。 A prominent MP, Liam had been hiding secrets that led to the couple arguing the previous night。 Accused of the murder, Heather is sent to prison and her two young sons are sent to live with Liam’s family。 Now, released early and under strict observation and instruction to stay away from her boys and anyone involved in her case, Heather is out and determined to find out who really killed her husband and get her children back。 What follows is a twisty and compelling story of lies, corruption and intrigue, as Heather finds herself in danger from an unknown group who will stop at nothing to keep the truth hidden。 This is the first of T M Logan’s books that I have read, and it was an excellent and gripping read。 The final reveal was a stunner - I absolutely did not see it coming! BUT - the reasoning behind what happened …… I could not get my head around it! It just didn’t make sense to me。 It let the whole book down for me! I read and re-read a couple of pages and even passed it to my partner and got him to read it and tell me if I’m being daft or does this not make any sense。 The poor man, with zero context of the rest of the book - of course it made no sense, but he did agree that it didn’t add up。 So that is why the 3。5 stars - it should have been a 4 but that explanation for such a big Why? - it was a no from me。 However, it was excellently written, great characters, great intrigue, very creepy and scary, very good! 。。。more

Another excellent read from the author! The main character, Heather, is convicted of murdering her MP husband Liam and serves 10 years in prison。 Her two young sons are cared for by her in laws and she has no contact with them。 Her release from prison sets in action a frantic chain of events as she strives to prove her innocence。 There are plenty twists and I was engrossed from start to finish。 Everything you want from a thriller, with an ending I did not expect。 Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC。
